Enable the students to listen to and read the dialogue between Tony and his father about Australia and learn to talk about the places which they have visited.

  Help the students learn how to find some details, and how to talk about the places which they have visited.

StepWarming up and lead-in

In this procedure, ask the students some symbols of Australia to make them be interested in Australia. Show the following pictures and ask the students some questions in order to let the students talk more about Australia.

                                 

StepListening and speaking

In this procedure, let the students learn some more about Australia. Ask the students to listen to the tape with the pictures on page 56.

T: Here are three pictures. Do you know what they are? And do you know the answers to these questions in Activity 1? The words in the box and the photos may help you. Now, you can have a discussion.

After two minutes.

T: Maybe you have had your own answers. Let’s listen to the tape and check the answers.

The teacher can let some students report their answers and then make them ask and answer in pairs.

The answers to the questions: 1. Uluru  2. The Opera House  3. A shark

Make sure the students can read the answers above correctly.

Step Listening and reading

In this procedure ask the students to get the main idea and some details from the conversation.

1. Listen to the conversation and answer the following questions on the slide projector.

How many speakers are there in the conversation? Who are they?

Where did Tony’s father take the photos?

What activity is Tony going to take part in?

After listening to the tape, ask some students to answer the questions.

2.Read the conversation silently and try to complete the box in Activity 4.

Step IV Language points

Ask students to find out the problems, then discuss in groups , finally the teacher will explain them.

句,修饰先行词 the photos 其中关系代

that在定语从句中作took的宾语。

The handbag that I bought last week is lost.

上周我买的包丢了

2. Here we go 我们这就去看看;我们开始吧

英语口语中Here/there  + you /we +go/are这种短语极为常见。

从结构来 , 这类习语有三个变量构成:

第一:地点指示是近指还是远指(here/there);

第二: 人称指示是对称还是自称(we/you);

第三: 谓语动词是动态还是静态(do/are)

Here you go, Lucy. -Thank you.    

你在这里呀,露西。-谢谢。

Sam: Here you go: I'm finished.    

萨姆:给你表格,我写完了。

辨析:Here you go.”和“There you go.

(1). Here you go.”指的是一件事情还在进行之中。

例如店员正把你买的东西交付给你,他会说“Here you go.

(2). There you go. 则是事情已经结束,

如果东西己经到了你手上,则他会说的是“There you go.

3. According to the local people…据说

 according to 相符的,一致的。

Everything went off according to plan.

一切都按照计划实现了。

注意:according to 后一般不接view(看法) opinion(意见)这类词,也不接表示第一人称的代词(me, us).

依我看,这部电影不错。

应该说 In my opinion, the film is wonderful.

不能说 According to my opinion, the film is wonderful.

4. They wear special hats that keep the flies 

   away. 他们带着特殊的帽子,阻挡苍蝇。

keep…away 使保持(某种状态)

I sign to him to keep away, but he continued to advance.

 我示意他离开, 但他还是继续往前走。

拓展:keep away from…离…远点

As long as you keep away from them, you’re safe.

只要你离他们远一点,你就会安全。

5.I had to brush them off my clothes…

我得把蚂蚁从我的衣服上刷下来。

brush… off 把某物从某物上刷掉。

Don’t worry about that mark, it will brush off.

不要担心那个污渍,可以刷掉的

拓展:做“不理睬,冷落”讲时

When I tired to talk to her about it she just

brush me off.

当我试图和她谈这件事时,她就是不理我。

6. It wasn’t funny at the time

  当时可不怎么有趣。

at the tine此刻,这时;那时候;在那个时候

At the time you saved my wife and child.

你救我妻子和孩子时说的。

My boyfriend at the time.

那时是我的男朋友。

Full prepayment required at the time of check-in.

在办理入住手续时需要全额预付款.

StepSpeaking (pair work)

Ask the students to work in pairs to make a conversation about a beautiful place in the school or in the neighborhood.
